Dear Friends of Carroll:
My name is Jeremy Johnson and I am a professor of political science at Carroll College and specialize in American politics. I grew up near Philadelphia and arrived in Montana four years ago after completing my doctorate at Brown University. I knew no one in Helena when I was hired and have enjoyed becoming part of the warm and welcoming Carroll community.
I am happy to report that plans for major enhancements to the Corette Library are an integral component of the MIND portion of the Campaign for Carroll College. The library is a vibrant area on campus central to the academic life of the college and record numbers of students use library resources for assignments and research.
As part of the MIND BODY SPIRIT Campaign, Carroll College will build on our record of academic success. The Center for Professional Communication, which will be housed in the lower level of the library, will provide cutting-edge amenities for tutoring and the development of both written and verbal communication and presentation skills. Updated facilities will also include a permanent, climate-controlled area for the college’s historical archives, a new seminar-style classroom, and new circulation and reference areas. One of the most frequent requests of our students is for extended hours of operation and access to library study areas. We intend to meet that demand by creating 24-hour access to a space for study and research.
This is an exciting time for academics and the library. We hope you will consider contributing to help develop quality facilities and resources to attract and retain students at Carroll College.
